Wrong-way collision survivors are often catastrophically injured. These crashes can occur when a driver fails to maintain control of their vehicle. This can be the result of drunk, distracted, or speeding drivers.
When a person drives into oncoming traffic, the chances of a deadly wrong-way crash are high. These types of collisions are more damaging than most other two-vehicle crashes. Crash statistics indicate that these head-on crashes have a 60% mortality rate. Even though these accidents only account for around 2% of all annual automobile crashes in the state, they cause about 10% of all annual crash fatalities.
