West Valley City, UT (August 12, 2022) – On Wednesday, August 10th, an 11-year-old boy was walking with his mom when a vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk, hitting and killing him.
The mother and son, who were sightseeing in Salt Lake City, were heading home after deboarding a bus in West Valley City at about 11:40 p.m. They were almost home when a car left the roadway and hit the child.
The boy was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he passed away. His mom was unharmed during the crash.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
The driver, a 45-year-old male, was arrested shortly before 12:00 a.m. the following day.
