Marysvale, UT (August 07, 2022) – A man from Colorado died on Saturday, August 6th after an accident involving a Utility Task Vehicle on the Paiute ATV trail in southern Utah.
According to sources, at about 12:05 p.m., the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of UTVs colliding in the area of Big John Flat in the Tushar Mountains.
Upon their arrival, sheriff’s deputies found the wrecked vehicles as well as a 79-year-old man from Colorado, who was pronounced dead.
The man was traveling with several other UTV riders, including family members and friends, on a jamboree out of Marysvale.
No additional information has been provided.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
In 2016, more than 180 accidents involving Utility-Task Vehicles were reported in Utah. These accidents left 127 victims with serious injuries and caused the deaths of 24 more. Being operated at dangerously high speeds is the main cause of ATV accidents.
ATV accidents often cause their victims to endure serious injuries, including:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Spinal column damage
- Back injuries/Neck Injuries
- Broken or fractured bones
- Fatalities
- Paralysis
When a utility-task vehicle overturns, its open-air design leaves the occupants especially vulnerable to injuries.
The extreme nature of many ATV collision injuries usually leaves victims with pricey medical bills, a lengthy recovery period during which they are unable to work, and, in severe cases, lifelong disabilities that will require ongoing care, robbing the victim of their independence.
