Cedar City, UT – Passenger Airlifted After Dirt Road Accident In Undeveloped Part Of Cedar City

Cedar City, UT (August 07, 2022) – One woman was med-flighted to a regional hospital in serious condition on Saturday, August 6th after a one-vehicle rollover in an undeveloped area of Cedar City.

The incident happened on an unnamed gravel and dirt road extending off South East Canyon Drive that is under construction. While the location in question is technically inside the Cedar City limits, there are no homes or buildings nearby.

An older model Chevrolet Suburban, driven by an adult male, was traveling westbound along the dirt road when it overturned and came to an uncontrolled stop on the side of the road.

One adult female passenger, who was in the front seat, required extrication. She was then taken by Intermountain Life Flight helicopter to St. George Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

When you are a passenger, and the vehicle you are riding in is involved in a crash, there are a few options available to you as you seek compensation for your injuries. The first stage of the process is the same as it would be for the driver after any property damage has been handled, and that is to utilize Personal Injury Protection coverage.

Regardless of the circumstance, Personal Injury Protection will be used first and will cover at least the initial $3,000 of medical costs for each passenger in every collision. In the event that the passenger has not recovered by the time the PIP runs out, they will then have a bodily injury claim against the negligent driver.

Pursuing economic recovery for damages can be a little bit tricky when you were not the driver in a vehicle collision.
