Huntsville, UT (October 25, 2021) – Officials have released the name of the driver who died in a fatal car accident near Pineview Reservoir on Sunday, October 24th.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Eliacim J. Zamora Perez, a resident of Riverdale.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene on State Route 39 at about 4:40 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found that an eastbound Audi S3 passenger car had collided with a westbound Dodge 3500 pickup truck.
Zamora Perez, the driver of the Audi, died at the scene. A nine-year-old passenger in the back seat and an adult passenger in the front seat both sustained critical injuries during the impact.
According to police, the crash happened when the Audi suddenly crossed the double yellow line and struck the pick-up head-on.
The truck left the roadway and overturned onto its roof. The truck driver sustained injuries to his lower extremities and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The driver’s condition was not provided.
Why the Audi swerved into oncoming traffic remains under investigation.
