Huntsville, UT (October 24, 2021) – On Sunday, October 24th, Utah Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene of a fatal car accident.
The crash took place on State Route 39 in the area of the Pineview Reservoir dam.
An official with the state police confirmed that at least one person was killed during the accident but declined to offer any additional details until an investigation has been conducted.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
In 2015, 276 people died in Utah car accidents; the highest rate of fatalities in the state in the last seven years. According to a representative from the Utah Highway Patrol, 93% of those deaths were caused by human error.
While driving regulations and laws in every state exist for the sole purpose of preventing car accidents and the loss of life, it is obvious that not enough is being done. Especially when you consider that Utah’s rate of fatal car accidents has increased by more than 25% since its all-time low in 2012.
Although some of these fatal accidents can be attributed to an overall increase in travel, most of the state’s deadly crashes happen because drivers refuse to heed the state’s warnings about safe driving. Offenses ranging from not being properly restrained while the vehicle is moving to driving while drunk, Utah residents seem absolutely determined to go against common sense and the law.
