St. George, UT (May 12, 2021) – At about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12th, police responded to an accident when a boom truck heading northbound on Interstate 15 when it blew a tire, causing it to swerve over the median into oncoming traffic where it collided with a Honda Civic.
The boom truck continued across all lanes of traffic before coming to a stop on the west side of the interstate.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
A head-on collision, also known as a wrong-way collision, is a term that refers to the impact between the front-ends of two vehicles moving in opposite directions. This type of car crash has the highest chance of leaving its victims with serious or even fatal injuries. The amount of force that is typically exerted during this kind of collision is extreme and the reason head-on collisions accounted for almost 30 of all fatal traffic accidents in 2017.
