St. George, UT (March 21, 2021) – One man died in a fire that broke out on Tuesday, March 16th in an apartment building that required over a dozen fire trucks, engines, and patrol vehicles to get it under control.
The fire was reported at about 8:30 p.m. in an apartment building at the intersection of Bluff Street and 500 South. It destroyed one whole unit and damaged three others.
A passerby noticed smoke coming from the building and alerted 911.
St. George Fire reported a single fatality, a man in his 70s, who was found dead inside.
Once the fire was extinguished, crews checked for any extensions. An assistant Utah State Fire Marshal and St. George Police detectives were on the scene to assist. St. George Fire Department investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire, as well as any other contributing factors.
