Saratoga Springs, UT – Amanda Sessions And Teenage Son Identified As Victims Of Redwood Rd Crash

Saratoga Springs, UT (June 04, 2022) – A mother and son were heading out to celebrate her birthday on Saturday, May 28th when they were both killed in a fatal collision in Utah County.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Amanda Sessions, and her 13-year-old son, both residents of Herriman, were in a Hyundai Elantra heading southbound along State Route 68 near Utah Lake on their way to her birthday celebration at about 1:30 p.m.

For reasons still under investigation, their car left the roadway, overcorrected, and entered oncoming traffic where it was T-boned by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The boy was killed on impact when the Jeep crashed into the passenger side of the Hyundai. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on Sessions, but she passed away due to her injuries.

Both occupants of the Jeep were transferred to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Utah Highway Patrol said speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Side-impact crashes often leave victims with agonizing, severe, and even deadly injuries. The most common injuries that are typically produced in Utah car crashes include:

  • Injuries to the Chest and Neck: A punctured or collapsed lung, heavy internal bleeding, fractured ribs, and internal organ damage are just some of the injuries that can be caused by side-impact crashes.

Whiplash is the result of the intense, sudden back and forth movement of the head and/or neck, causing sprains, tears, and other injuries to the tendons, muscles, or ligaments.

  • Injuries to the Spine and Head: Head injuries are one of the more critical side-impact-related injuries. Vehicle occupants, even those who are properly restrained, can be struck in the face by a deployed airbag, or smack their heads on the car’s steering column or dashboard.

Back injuries are a fairly normal outcome of side-impact accidents and can vary from damage to the spinal cord or nerve damage to paralysis and death. Crash victims may also encounter numbness, tingling, or pain in their hands, legs, feet, and arms for the remainder of their lives.
