Milford, UT (September 14, 2021) – Two motorcycle riders were injured, one critically, when one of them struck a cow in the road causing both bikes to crash on Monday, September 13th in Beaver County.
An official from the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office said the two riders were both males in their early 40s. One was visiting from out of state and the other was from Saratoga Springs.
The men were taking a ride across the state and had planned to stay in Cedar City for the night.
At about 8:30 p.m., they were riding southbound on SR-257 between Hinckley and Milford.
The first rider, a man from Alabama, struck a black cow that had been standing in the middle of the roadway.
The force of the impact killed the cow and caused significant injuries to the rider. This caused the second rider to lay down his motorcycle in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid crashing into the cow or colliding with the other rider.
The first victim was transported by ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital for emergency medical treatment of critical injuries,
The second rider sustained non-critical injuries.
