Bountiful, UT (May 14, 2021) – Firefighters from South Davis Metro discovered a body in the smoldering rubble left by a house fire on Friday, May 14th in Bountiful.
Sources stated that fire crews were dispatched to the scene in the 20 block of Maple Hollow Way at about 10:00 a.m.
The fire was in the basement of the residence but crews were forced to evacuate due to high heat and low visibility, most likely caused by multiple materials fueling the fire from inside the structure. The roof and floors had also started to cave in.
Initial reports indicated that two people could still be inside the home, one of whom was quickly located. The body of the second person was later found in the basement.
A firefighter was also injured and transported to a local hospital with injuries officials would only describe as “burns to his body.”
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
