Midway, UT (June 10, 2021) – One man was killed and another is in the hospital following a head-on car accident that shut down all lanes of traffic on US-40 on Thursday, June 10th just outside of Midway.
Reports show that the collision took place at about 5:00 p.m. in the westbound lanes of US-40 Highway near mile marker 16.
The victim’s identity has not been released at this time, but it was confirmed that a 20-year-old driver died when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, his eastbound Subaru swerved left through the center turn lane and collided headfirst with a Chevrolet pick-up truck.
The Utah Department of Public Safety stated that the driver of the Subaru was killed on impact.
The driver of the pick-up truck was transported via ambulance to a local hospital in serious condition.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
A head-on crash also referred to as a wrong-way crash, is a phrase that refers to the impact between the front-ends of two motor vehicles traveling in opposite directions. This kind of car collision has the greatest odds of causing its victims critical or even deadly injuries. The degree of force that is often created in this sort of accident is extreme and is the reason that head-on crashes comprised nearly 30 of all deadly traffic accidents in 2017.
When people are injured in crashes, through no fault of their own, they are usually able to solicit financial compensation from the liable party to alleviate the financial losses they face for medical treatment, lost income, property repairs, and a multitude of other non-economic and economic damages.
