Clearfield, UT – Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Accident On Main St

Clearfield, UT (June 09, 2021) – A 67-year-old man sustained critical injuries that ultimately led to his death after he was hit by a car on Wednesday, June 9th in Clearfield.

The accident took place at about 9:25 a.m. in the 500 block of North Main Street.

When police and paramedics reported to the scene, they located the pedestrian lying in the roadway in critical condition being attended to by bystanders.

Statements gathered by officers suggest the man was trying to cross to the eastbound side of North Main Street when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.

After striking the pedestrian, the driver of the cream-colored Cadillac fled the scene, turning down 650 North.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Davis Hospital and Medical Center. He was pronounced dead a short while later.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

In Utah, pedestrians are afforded the right-of-way in both unmarked and marked crosswalks. They are also permitted to cross the street from any point except where it is explicitly forbidden. In the event that a pedestrian crosses a street where no crosswalk is present. they are statutorily obligated to give the right-of-way to oncoming vehicles.

The impacts of fatal pedestrian crashes throughout our state are something that most families are not prepared to deal with. The mental and emotional pain and suffering are only half of the battle. In many cases, families are deprived of sources of income they have grown to depend on. Additionally, they are often left with towering medical bills and funeral costs.

When victims are injured in accidents caused by the negligence of other drivers, it is crucial that they seek legal guidance from a skilled and knowledgeable pedestrian accident attorney in Salt Lake City as soon as possible.
