Man Finally Charged In Death Of Salt Lake City Teen

The lives we lived as teenagers create a beautiful sense of nostalgia the longer we lean into adulthood. Whether reconnecting with old friends in a sandwich shop or stumbling on some old photographs, we tend to remember all the promise that was laid at our feet. If you’ve seen the news lately, all that promise was taken from a young seventeen-year-old boy on June 29th, 2020. While we wish we could make the world safe for our youth, the truth is car accidents happen.

The Salt Lake City car accident attorneys at Jardine Law Offices P.C. P.C. understand the devastation losing a loved one can bring. We’re here to help.

A 17-year-old boy, following the rules of the road, was struck. After fighting for his life with a brain hemorrhage, four broken ribs, damaged liver and spleen, and more, he died from his injuries just days after the crash.

What Do You Do When Being Careful Isn’t Enough?

Life is precious and many of us try not to take it for granted. We kiss our spouses before leaving for work, are mindful of our health and order an egg white omelet on the way, drive the speed limit, and slow down when the light turns yellow. We could follow every rule on the road perfectly, but that won’t stop a careless driver from speeding up at that yellow light and running right into us as it turns red.

According to Utah Crash Statistics, there have been

  • 64,597 car crashes since 2019
  • 225 of them were fatal

Reckless driving isn’t just for alleged drug dealers. The hard truth is that the single mom that lives two doors down from you probably had a bad morning, forgot her coffee on top of her car, reached around to the back seat to shush her teething baby, and just didn’t see the stop sign. Your obnoxious co-worker who always plays by the rules golfs on Sundays, and never speeds just got served papers from his wife. He’s driving home trying to call her, she won’t answer. Now he’s trying to read her text message explaining why she won’t answer and doesn’t see the couple on a dinner date crossing the street. Accidents can happen to any of us.
