Cedar City, UT (September 13, 2021) – One man died and another was critically injured during a single-vehicle rollover north of Cedar City on Sunday, September 12th.
An official with the Utah Highway Patrol said the first call notifying them of the pick-up truck that rolled off the side of Interstate 15 was received at about 7:00 a.m.
Sources said that the vehicle, a silver Toyota pick-up truck, had been driving southbound on the interstate when it drifted off the roadway. The driver then overcorrected and went off the opposite side of the interstate and overturned multiple times. The pick-up then crashed through a wire fence and came to an uncontrolled stop near the Old Highway 91 frontage road that connects Summit and Enoch.
The passenger, a man in his early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a man in his mid-60s, was extricated from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to Cedar City Hospital. He was then med flighted to St. George Regional Hospital. Although his injuries were classified as critical, he is expected to survive.
