Roy, UT (October 18, 2021) – 62-year-old Warren Yoshio Watanabe was hit by a car near the entrance to Kent’s Market Shopping Center on Monday at about 8:20 a.m. in Roy.
The Roy Police Department said a woman struck the cyclist as she was making a righthand turn onto 3500 West. The driver then backed up, striking Watanabe a second time. After that, she pulled forward at an angle that missed striking the victim a third time but completely decimated his bicycle.
Watanabe was transported by paramedics to a local hospital with critical injuries, including after 14 broken ribs, a shattered kidney, a damaged liver, and being unable to breathe on his own.
