Millcreek, UT (October 16, 2021) – A fatal accident in Millcreek on Interstate 215 caused heavy gridlock as investigators shut down the area on Friday, October 15th.
Utah Highway Patrol reported to the scene where they discovered that a pedestrian had been killed.
The accident took place on the on-ramp leading from 3800 south onto the northbound lanes of Interstate 215 at about 5:30 a.m.
Officials reported that, for reasons still under investigation, a northbound pick-up truck somehow dropped the trailer it was pulling. In the early morning gloom, the detached trailer was now barely visible to oncoming traffic, and stalled in the middle of the interstate,
Another driver, a man in his 20s that had been behind the pick-up truck, crashed into the trailer. After exiting his vehicle to inspect the damage, he was struck and killed by a third vehicle.
The drivers of the other two vehicles remained at the scene and have cooperated with authorities.
