Salt Lake City, UT – Pedestrian Fatality Reported On W. North Temple St

Salt Lake City, UT (November 08, 2021) – Police were called to the scene when a fatal pedestrian accident took place on Monday, November 8th in Salt Lake City. 

Police reported to W. North Temple Street at about 6:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a woman had been hit by a car.

In spite of life-saving measures, the unidentified woman died at the scene.

An investigation determined that the driver of the car was heading westbound on W. North Temple at the time of the accident. The driver stayed at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation.

No arrests have been made but police say the investigation is ongoing. 

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians are assisting in the investigation.

Pedestrian Fatalities in Utah

In Utah, roughly 30 pedestrians die due to negligent drivers every year and an additional 785 will require a visit to the emergency room or long-term hospitalization for treatment of their crash-related injuries.

The Utah Highway Safety Office says that the rate of pedestrian-involved accidents has grown every year for nearly a decade, with 2012 marking the apex of these tragic events.
