Cedar City, UT (March 27, 2021) – A driver swerved to circumvent colliding with another vehicle on Interstate 15 on Monday, March 22nd, resulting in a rollover crash.
The accident took place at about 5:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15, near the Kanarraville rest area in Iron County.
An official with the Utah Highway Patrol stated that a vehicle had just left the rest area going northbound. As it entered the merge lane on I-15, it cut off a Jeep Cherokee already in that lane, forcing it to make an evasive maneuver, in turn causing it to swerve across the Interstate until it went off the opposite side. The Jeep struck a dirt berm and overturned at least one time before coming to a stop at the top of the hill facing the opposite direction.
Rescuers employed the Jaws of Life to free a man from the Jeep. He was transported via ambulance to Cedar City Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The other driver pulled over and remained at the scene. Police are unsure if a citation will be issued.
