South Jordan, UT – Body Recovery Attempted Following Industrial Accident Near Ivy Glen Way

South Jordan, UT (June 15, 2021) – At least one person was killed during an industrial accident on Tuesday, June 15th in South Jordan.

At about 10:30 a.m., South Jordan Police, fire and rescue, and additional emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a construction site in the area of Moon Valley Way and Ivy Glen Way.

A source close to the incident said the two people were caught in a trench collapse while working on what appears to be the basement or foundation of a home under construction. One of the workers narrowly escaped and was taken to a local hospital to be medically evaluated. His current condition is unknown.

Crews said they attempted to rescue the second worker but the man died at the scene. Responders are currently working to stabilize the trench and recover the victim’s body.

The identity of the deceased has not been reported.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.

If the victim of an accident would have been entitled to file a personal injury claim had survived, then it is appropriate for a member of their immediate family to file a wrongful death claim. This type of personal injury claim can be filed by a surviving family member or a legal dependent.

Family members who, according to Utah’s personal injury laws, are allowed to file a wrongful death suit are parents, spouses, and children of the deceased. In some cases, another close relative, such as a sibling, might be authorized to file the claim.

When victims pass away from injuries sustained in accidents caused by reckless, negligent, or careless drivers, their families may be entitled to compensation. Filing a legal claim with a responsive and effective wrongful death attorney in the Salt Lake City area can help to ensure your legal rights are protected after enduring the loss of a loved one.
