Salina, UT (June 19, 2021) – Officers from the Salina City Police Department responded to calls regarding a pedestrian being struck by a car on Saturday, July 19th.
Sources state that a woman was walking home from the Balloon Festival at about 1:00 a.m. when she was hit by a car in the area of 250 East and 100 South.
That vehicle then fled the scene, leaving the injured woman lying in the street.
The unidentified woman was transported via ambulance to a hospital in northern Utah.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Pedestrians in the state of Utah are given the right-of-way over vehicles in crosswalks regardless of whether they are marked or unmarked. Pedestrians are also allowed to cross the street from any location unless it is expressly prohibited. Should a pedestrian cross a street with no crosswalk available, they are legally required to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.
