Provo, UT – Loose Tire On I-15 Near Center St Causes Critical Passenger Injuries

Provo, UT (June 02, 2021) – The Utah Highway Patrol reported to the scene of a serious accident on Interstate 15 on Wednesday, June 2nd in Provo.

The accident took place at about 5:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Center Street when a tire flew off a lifted, full-size Chevrolet pick-up truck and crashed through the passenger side of another vehicle, causing critical injuries to the passenger.

Another car also struck the tire after it flew out of the truck bed. No one in that vehicle was injured but the car itself may have been damaged.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Determining liability for a vehicle accident caused by unsafe conditions on local or state roadways varies. Some commonly at-fault parties include:

  • In the event that an inadequately maintained vehicle or improperly secured object, such as a mattress, ladder, furniture, or other construction-related or household item caused your accident, the driver of that vehicle could be held liable.
  • Truck owners, truck operators, or other people working in the trucking industry could be held accountable for improperly fastened cargo, overloaded trailers, poorly secured trailers, and tire blow-outs.
  • If carelessly maintained roads, like one with a missing or damaged guardrail or a big pothole that has gone unrepaired caused your accident, a government entity might be to blame.
