St. George, UT (July 15, 2021) – Two victims were transported to hospitals on the afternoon of Monday, July 12th after a head-on crash on Valley View Drive.
Reports show that the crash took place at about 4:45 p.m., at the intersection of Valley View Drive and 425 North in the area of the Rincon del Sol Apartments, when two vehicles moving in opposite directions along Valley View Drive crashed into one another, twisting around each other and strewing debris and shard of glass across the roadway.
People who live in the nearby apartments and houses reportedly heard the accident happen and hurried outside to see what was going on. One resident who lives directly across the street from the crash site said he saw a man, the driver of one of the involved vehicles, walking around with a bloody hand while the woman driving the other vehicle was completely still.
According to an official from the St. George Police Department, a 2006 silver Honda CR-V driven by a 74-year-old woman was traveling northbound when she strayed into the lefthand turn lane and crashed into a 2019 red Hyundai Kona being driven by a 31-year-old male.
The female driver sustained serious injuries to both of her legs and was transported by paramedics to an area hospital. The male driver sustained serious injuries to both of his hands and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.
The elderly woman was cited by police for improper lane travel. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Police officers were assisted by St. George Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
