Mapleton, UT (July 17, 2021) – A 13-year-old boy passed away due to injuries he sustained when his go-kart was hit by a car in Mapleton on a fatal accident go-cart vs. vehicle accident in Mapleton on Thursday, July 15th.
The crash took place at the intersection of Dogwood Drive, also known as 400 South, and Aspen Drive, also known as 1500 East.
Paramedics from Mapleton Fire were notified and reported to the scene inside of four minutes.
Upon their arrival, emergency responders located the unresponsive 13-year-old boy lying in the roadway. They discovered he was not breathing and resuscitation efforts were performed immediately.
The boy was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Utah Valley Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short while later.
The driver, who was unharmed during the accident, stayed at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation.
Mapleton City Public Safety Department said they will not release the name of the teen as they work with the family.
