Salt Lake City, UT (October 6, 2020) – An automobile accident reported early Tuesday morning claimed one man’s life in the Salt Lake City area. At approximately 5:30 a.m., on October 6, the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to the scene of an accident on Interstate 215.
Reports provided by Salt Lake City Police Lt. Brett Olsen show that a man was driving on the interstate when his vehicle collided with a semi-truck near the exit for California Avenue. The man’s vehicle went underneath the trailer.
Firefighters responded to the site of the accident and extricated the man and removed the trapped vehicle from beneath the semi. The extent of injuries sustained by the victim was far too severe. Authorities pronounced the man deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported in this accident. The man appears to have been alone inside his vehicle at the time of the crash. Police are currently withholding the identification of the victim until the family is notified.
At this time, investigations to determine what led to the crash are underway.
