Fatal Car Accidents in Utah

In 2015, roughly 300 people died in Utah car accidents, signifying the state’s highest rate of fatal car accidents in almost a decade. A spokesperson from the Utah Highway Patrol reported that 93% of those deaths were down to basic driver negligence.

While many of these deadly crashes can be attributed to a general increase in travel, most of the state’s deadly crashes happen because drivers refuse to abide by the state’s suggestions for safe driving. Committing offenses that vary from being unrestrained while the vehicle is in motion, to driving while drunk, Utah residents seem to have made a goal of disregarding common sense and the law.

Although driving laws and regulations in every state exist for the singular purpose of preventing car accidents and the unnecessary loss of life, it is apparent that not enough is being done, especially when you consider that Utah’s rate of deadly car accidents has risen by more than 25% since its all-time low in 2012.
