From 1992 to 2002, the number of oversized vehicles involved in deadly accidents has seen a 10 increase caused largely by avoidable circumstances like driver fatigue, dangerous truck operation, unbalanced and oversized cargo, and defective equipment. Accidents involving oversized commercial trucks are also prone to the same causative factors as any other motor vehicle, such as driver fatigue, driving under the influence, driver error, equipment failure, and improper maintenance.
