St. George, UT (August 17, 2021) – Two people were transported by paramedics to the hospital on the afternoon of Monday, August 16th when two vehicles collided at the intersection of 600 East and St. George Boulevard.
An official from the St. George Police Department said that at about 4:45 p.m., a gray Mercedes C-Class attempting to turn onto St. George Boulevard collided with the front of a white Toyota Corolla. The force of the impact launched the Corolla out of its lane, causing it to strike the median and then continue across the roadway.
The Corolla came to an uncontrolled stop facing the wrong way on the eastbound side of St. George Boulevard. It was eventually moved to the side of the road and traffic was funneled into one lane in the immediate area as the occupants of the car were evaluated for injuries and the car was towed.
Two people sustained injuries during the accident. Both were taken by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital with injuries thought to be non-life-threatening.
The Mercedes wound up halfway on the north sidewalk of St. George Boulevard with a damaged bumper and grill, and a severely dented hood. The hood of the Corolla was crushed and the windscreen was cracked. Both cars were towed from the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes was given a citation for failing to yield at a stop sign.
Responders with the St. George Fire Department assisted police and paramedics at the scene of the incident.
