American Fork, UT (August 23, 2021) – A truck driver was killed on Monday, August 23, in an accident that occurred on Interstate 15 in American Fork.
According to troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol, a dump truck with a trailer crashed into a wall around 2:30 p.m. on the southbound side of I-15.
UHP says the truck’s left-front tire blew, which caused the driver to swerve left across several lanes and crash into the barrier.
The driver was ejected from the cab and pulled underneath the truck as it kept moving, witnesses told UHP troopers. The truck then continued to roll down the freeway before coming to a stop.
EMS units were on the scene shortly after the incident occurred, though they declared the victim dead at the scene. Their name has not yet been released.
All southbound lanes of the highway near Pleasant Grove Boulevard were shut down as police cleared the scene and collected evidence.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials, and additional information will be provided as it continues.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.
When it comes to freight delivery in the United States, commercial trucks are king, and these massive vehicles may represent a significant threat to passengers in passenger automobiles. When a car accident occurs, occupants in smaller cars are more likely to have life-threatening injuries, as evidenced by national accident data on the subject.
Trucking accidents are recorded in excess of 500,000 times every year, resulting in thousands of fatalities. A tractor-trailer or semi-truck collision results in the death or serious injury of someone around every 15 seconds.
In the case of a collision with a passenger car, large semi-trucks can cause severe and life-threatening injuries. Driver inexperience is a significant cause of fatal commercial vehicle accidents, which occurs when firms scramble to fill jobs owing to a scarcity of qualified drivers.
This carelessness adds to catastrophic incidents involving 18-wheelers and other commercial vehicles. When a trucking accident occurs as a consequence of the negligence of another driver, affected victims should speak with an American Fork truck accident attorney in order to recover lost compensation via the filing of a personal injury claim.
