West Valley City, UT – Two Hospitalized After Tractor-Trailer Crash On I-80 At 5600 West

West Valley City, UT (May 14, 2022) – Two people were taken to a regional medical facility after a tractor-trailer collided with a passenger vehicle and both vehicles ended up in the median of Interstate 80 at the exit leading to 5600 West in West Valley City on Saturday, May 14th.

A trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol said that rescue crews were still on the scene several hours later and were attempting to figure out if the tractor-trailer was compromised when it crashed into the car, causing it to become trapped between a cable barrier and the body of the tractor-trailer.

Injuries to the two occupants of the vehicle are not thought to be life-threatening.

The truck operator sustained non-critical injuries during the incident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

When a vehicle accident caused by negligent behavior causes other people to incur damages, the injured party needs to seek the legal guidance of a tractor-trailer injury lawyer in West Valley City. When one or more individuals are injured through the acts of another, they are entitled to financial compensation for any damages.

In the decade preceding 2022, the overall total of tractor-trailers involved in critical accidents rose by more than 10%; an increase blamed primarily on preventable scenarios such as being too exhausted to safely operate a truck, handling a truck in a hazardous or unsafe manner, unbalanced or oversized payload, and defective parts. Accidents that involve tractor-trailers are also just as vulnerable to the exact same elements that cause automobile accidents, such as drivers who are inebriated, driver error, fatigued driving, equipment defects and failures, and poor or insufficient maintenance.

After being injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer, almost all injured parties will face a long and brutal recovery. This will most likely include painful and strenuous physical therapy along with various operations and expensive, ongoing medical care, all contributing to a never-ending influx of hospital and doctor’s bills as well as other associated losses like missed income due to being out of work.

Many tractor-trailer collision victims are frightened for their future and jump on the first settlement the insurance company offers them without giving a moment’s consideration to their potential future medical costs and, sometimes, without even receiving a full medical diagnosis. This popular mistake forces injured victims to pay the rest of their not-inconsiderable bills out of pocket.

The legal representation of a practiced Utah tractor-trailer accident lawyer who knows how to calculate the expenses you can expect to have in the coming months or years is your best shot at receiving the financial compensation you are entitled to.
