Ogden, UT – Suspect Apprehended After Fleeing Scene Of Rollover Crash At 2Nd St And Washington Blvd

Ogden, UT (May 19, 2022) – The cause of a rollover collision involving three vehicles that took place on Wednesday, May 18th is being investigated in Ogden.

The Ogden Police Department said that officers were dispatched to the scene in the area of Washington Boulevard and 2nd Street for reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

According to officials at the scene, a passenger from one of the involved vehicles tried to flee the incident scene on foot but was quickly apprehended a short distance away.

The drivers of the vehicles sustained non-critical injuries during the impact.

Traffic was delayed for some time as police investigated the situation and road clean-up duties were performed.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

One of the most terrifying and most extreme types of vehicle collisions is one that results in a vehicle rolling over. Collisions involving overturning automobiles are considerably different from other types of collisions that leave the involved vehicles upright.  There are multiple factors that could potentially play a part when a vehicle rollover happens, each of which greatly increases the probability of critical injuries.

The speed of an object in a given direction is called velocity and it is a major factor in rollover accidents because, irrespective of the origin of impact, it must be forceful enough to make the vehicle overcome the engineering safeguards created by vehicle manufacturers to cause the car to roll.

Oftentimes, this occurs when one vehicle crashes into another and the impact generates enough force to flip the impacted vehicle over. Rollover crashes, however, can happen even during events that involve a single vehicle as long as enough velocity or force is produced by the vehicle’s own speed and weight.

As with all car crashes, gravity also plays a role. This is especially true where vehicle rollovers are concerned. When a car overturns, the vehicle itself develops crush points, the area in which two objects come together, around the passenger’s side of the car.  When a car overturns, passengers may be fully or partly thrown from the vehicle and then crushed under its immense weight when it rolls. An ejected passenger could also hit the asphalt with a great deal of force, causing them to endure critical injuries. Ensuring that all vehicle occupants are properly restrained significantly reduces their odds of being seriously hurt during a vehicle rollover incident.

A rolling truck or car also poses a danger to others.  A rolling vehicle could run into other automobiles, utility poles, pedestrians, bicyclists, or structures. They are also capable of obstructing traffic and flinging debris into the other traffic lanes. Once the car comes to an uncontrolled stop, rescuers at or near the scene can be hit by oncoming traffic attempting to circumvent the wreckage.

Vehicle rollover collisions can be complex in terms of sorting out liability and require the proficiency of a competent and experienced lawyer who has the resources to adequately investigate the event and secure full and fair compensation for your losses.
