Ogden, UT (March 09, 2022) – A 3-year-old girl died from injuries she sustained during a five-vehicle collision on snow-covered Interstate 15 on Wednesday, March 9th.
Highway Patrol shut down the northbound lanes of the interstate at the exit for 21st Street in Ogden after 10 vehicles were involved in a cluster of three separate accidents at about 5:00 a.m.
The worst of the crashes involved five vehicles, one of which was carrying the victim.
According to sources, the driver of a Hyundai Genesis lost control and struck the concrete median barrier, and overturned. The driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser swerved to avoid striking the Hyundai and also crashed into the barrier. Then, a Dodge Ram collided with the PT Cruiser on the driver’s side as a Toyota ran into the flipped Hyundai head-on. A Honda Civic then hit the PT Cruiser on the passenger side.
A three-year-old child in the back seat of the PT Cruiser was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.
Multiple other victims involved in the collisions were hospitalized with non-critical injuries.
The southbound lanes of I-15 were closed until almost 7:00 a.m.
