

Salt Lake City, UT (June 08, 2022) – A man was apprehended by police after injuring a 9-year-old when he crashed a stolen car on Tuesday, June 7th.
According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, the 33-year-old suspect has been charged with failure to stop at the command of a police officer, theft of a motor vehicle, and other traffic-related offenses.
The investigation started at about 3:00 p.m. when officers discovered a stolen car parked in the area of West Temple Street and Andrew Avenue.
As they were watching the car, officers witnessed a woman and a man enter the stolen vehicle.
Despite police efforts to block the car’s egress, the driver was able to maneuver around officers and flee, prompting the issue of a BOLO.
A few moments later, additional officers in the area saw a collision involving the stolen car and another vehicle at the intersection of West Temple Street and 2100 South. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the two suspects run from the scene.
Responding officers were able to take the female suspect into custody.
The man was apprehended in the vicinity of 2100 South and Utopia Avenue.
A 9-year-old who was in the other vehicle was transferred to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-critical.
