Salt Lake City, UT (July 14, 2022) – A man riding a moped died after colliding with a passenger vehicle in downtown Salt Lake City on Thursday, July 14th.
Police said that the incident took place at about 4:30 p.m. in the area of 400 South and 555 East. All westbound lanes of traffic were closed down for several hours following the impact.
Detectives believe the collision occurred when the car turned out of a business on 400 South as the moped operator was traveling westbound on the sidewalk.
Lifesaving efforts were rendered by first responders but the rider was ultimately pronounced at the scene.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
