St. George, UT – Driver Injured After Malfunctioning Vehicle Struck On Sunset Blvd

St. George, UT (August 17, 2022) – Police responded to Sunset Boulevard on Wednesday, August 16th at about 1:30 p.m. when a Honda Civic and a Buick sedan collided.

Officials from St. George Police stated that the Buick was struck as the driver made a lefthand turn onto Sunset from the parking lot of Dixie Sunset Plaza.

The Buick was experiencing an engine malfunction which caused it to keep stalling out. As the Buick stop-started its way through the turn, it was struck by the driver of a westbound Honda Civic.

The westbound lane of Sunset Boulevard between Dixie Sunset Plaza and Big O Tires to was shut down as officers worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation.

The driver of the Buick sustained non-critical injuries during the impact.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Car accidents often leave their victims with severe, debilitating, and even life-threatening injuries. Collision victims can sustain injuries to their legs, arms, feet, or hands. Extremity injuries also include torn ligaments such as the ACL, broken bones, and even bisection and amputation. Due to their severity, many of these injuries can result in lifelong handicaps and a diminished quality of life. They can also be deadly.

Also, crash victims can also undergo psychological damage such as post-traumatic stress disorder or emotional trauma. Deadly crashes that prompt the death of a family member can cause serious emotional trauma that demands psychiatric counseling.

Head injuries are another extremely serious crash-related injury. Drivers, even those that are buckled up, can smack their heads against steering columns, dashboards, and even deployed airbags. The huge amount of force these impacts cause can lead to concussions and other, more serious forms of brain injury. Victims may also experience the effects of mental confusion, cognition changes, loss of hearing, changes to their vision, or loss of eyesight.
