Car accidents often leave their victims with severe, debilitating, and even life-threatening injuries.

Head injuries are one of the most serious accident-related injuries. Drivers that are wearing their seat belts can hit their heads against dashboards, steering columns, and even a deployed airbag. The extreme force of these impacts can cause concussions and other, more critical forms of brain injury. Victims could experience the effects of cognitive changes, mental confusion, a loss of hearing, changes to their vision, or loss of eyesight.

Whiplash is the single most common kind of car accident injury. It is the result of the sharp and sudden movement of the head or neck causing damage to the ligaments and muscles. Whiplash injuries vary from fairly inconsequential to extremely severe. In some cases, crash victims can even undergo vocal cord paralysis after an accident.

Back injuries are a common consequence of car accidents and may lead to herniated discs, paralysis, or nerve damage. Victims can also experience permanent numbness, tingling, or pain in their legs or arms.

Victims who have pre-existing cardiac issues can go into cardiac arrest. Collapsed or punctured lungs, broken ribs, internal organ damage, and internal bleeding are also injury scenarios that frequently follow serious car accidents.

Collision victims can also receive injuries to their legs, arms, feet, or hands. Extremity injuries include torn ligaments like the ACL, broken or fractured bones, and even amputation and bisection. Some of these injuries can lead to permanent disabilities and a decreased quality of life. They can also be fatal.
