Auto Accidents in Utah
When you are injured in a Utah car accident, you have two possibilities for obtaining any compensatory damages. You can either file a claim with an insurance carrier or you can file a claim of personal injury in civil court. Utah abides by no-fault insurance laws, which require drivers to carry certain amounts of personal injury protection.
Before you can file a claim with the negligent driver’s insurance company or a personal injury claim, however, you must first file a claim with your insurance company. There are a couple of factors that might exempt you from this rule, such as permanent disabilities or impairment, dismemberment, permanent disfigurement, and medical costs that exceed $3,000.
