Salt Lake City, UT (October 19, 2021) – Officials have released the identity of the woman who died after she was involved in a fatal drunk driving accident in Salt Lake City by a man fleeing police on Saturday, October 16th.
Thy Hoang Vu, known to her family and friends as Thy Vu Mims, died when her car was struck by a large pick-up truck near the intersection of 500 North and 1200 West.
A second victim, one who has not been publicly identified, was in the car with Mims and sustained life-threatening injuries. As of Tuesday, she is still listed in critical condition.
Officers said that a dog, believed to have been in the car with the two women, also died in the crash.
