Washington Co, UT – One Injured In Camp Trailer Fire Near Sand Hollow Resort

Washington Co, UT (May 28, 2021) – Fire crews responded to a brush fire that began along the Virgin River in Hurricane on Wednesday, May 26th.

The fire was first reported at about 4:30 p.m. in Washington County near the Long Valley Recreation Area and Sand Hollow Resort.  The Washington County Fire Warden stated that the fire was human-caused and originated in an old camp trailer that was surrounded by trash. Once the trailer was fully engulfed, the fire spread rapidly. 

A man who was in the area when the fire ignited sustained injuries related primarily to heavy smoke inhalation. He was transported to St. George Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
