Heber City, UT (June 12, 2021) – One man was killed and another was critically injured during a collision between two vehicles on Thursday, June 10th along U.S. 40.
The deceased male has since been identified as 20-year-old Michael Rivera-Vazquez, a resident of Heber City.
The accident took place at about 5:00 p.m. when a 2007 Subaru Impreza was heading eastbound along the highway when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, it swerved left across the center turn lane. The Subaru then veered into the westbound lanes where it collided head-on with a 2020 Chevy Silverado.
The driver of the Subaru was fatally injured during the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Silverado was taken by ambulance to an area hospital in critical condition.
U.S. 40 was shut down in both directions near Heber City for more than two hours while police investigated.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Michael Rivera-Vazquez, at this time.
A head-on car crash, also identified as a wrong-way car crash, is a phrase that acknowledges an impact between the front-ends of two motor vehicles traveling in opposite directions. This sort of vehicle crash has the highest odds of leaving its victims facing severe or even mortal injuries. The measure of force that is usually created during this type of accident is great and the primary reason that head-on crashes made up about 30 of all fatal traffic crashes in 2017.
Although no amount of financial compensation can ever make things okay after the loss of someone you love due to the careless or reckless behavior of other driver, families who have the economic means to afford reliable medical care, lost wages, burial and funeral costs, and other unexpected expenses they will come across will find it much easier to deal with their loss.
