West Valley City, UT – Critical Injuries Caused By Crash On 3500 South

West Valley City, UT (October 30, 2020) – A woman was hospitalized in serious condition when her car was T-boned at the intersection of Bangerter Highway 3500 at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31st.

Reports show that eyewitnesses told responding officers that a vehicle traveling westbound on 3500 South attempted to make a lefthand turn on Bangerter Highway, against the red light, causing it to collide with a vehicle traveling southbound down Bangerter Highway which, according to bystanders, had the right-of-way.

Officials reported that the driver of the southbound vehicle sustained critical injuries and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center and was then moved to the University of Utah Hospital.

Local law enforcement officers are investigating the possibility that the woman was driving under the influence.

The three occupants of the other vehicle were young adults, all of whom were also transported to a local medical facility with moderate injuries, including a broken femur.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims. We hope for a full recovery.

Between 2018 and 2019, arrests related to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol dropped by 4. Most of these arrests took place throughout the Wasatch Front, with Salt Lake County, Davis County, Utah County, and Weber County making up 70 of the state’s overall number of drunk drivers. In the meantime, all counties not in the Wasatch Front only made up 30, a figure that is disproportionate to the area’s population.
