West Valley City, UT (August 12, 2022) – A group of onlookers worked together to lift a car off a pedestrian after he was run over in West Valley City on Monday, August 8th. Police arrested the car’s driver for driving under the influence.

The incident took place at about 11:15 p.m. at the Redwood Apartments in the 4000th block of South Redwood Road.

According to sources, a driver heading northbound lost control of his vehicle and smashed through a retaining wall near a group of people in the apartment building’s parking lot.

Although most of the people were able to escape the errant vehicle, the driver managed to run over one adult male.

The group of witnesses rushed to the victim’s aid, lifting the vehicle off the man and pulling him out from underneath.

He was transported by paramedics to a local hospital with a few broken bones along with internal and head injuries, but he is expected to survive.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
