Car accidents are a regrettable fact of life in Utah but that does not mean they are not preventable or that no one is to blame. In fact, almost 100% of Utah car accidents are avoidable because they stem from driver negligence.

It is not uncommon for injuries resulting from car accidents to take several hours or even several days to become apparent, and even a minor accident can cause severe injuries. This is just one of the reasons you need a Utah personal injury lawyer on your side.

Some car accident injuries that commonly manifest well after the fact include:

There are some forms of brain injuries that can cause lifelong difficulties. One of the more severe injuries you can sustain during a car crash is a traumatic brain injury. This type of injury can happen when you hit your head on the window, dashboard, or steering wheel. Some examples of TBIs include concussions, cerebral hemorrhages, and skull fractures.

If you received a traumatic brain injury, you need to follow your doctor’s orders. Then, reach out to a Utah car accident lawyer for help.

Many people disregard the mental health issues that arise after a vehicle collision even though they can be quite serious. For example, some people develop post-traumatic stress disorder after a crash. This could make it extremely hard for them to cope with the stress of driving a car day after day, which will adversely impact their daily lives.

If you feel you need professional mental help after being involved in a Utah car accident, speak with your primary care physician. The bedrock of mental health treatment is often therapy.

Car accidents can take place at any time, anywhere. This is why it is essential to make safety your number one priority every time you get behind the wheel. Unfortunately, not every other driver is going to do the same, meaning accidents can occur when you least expect them.
