Drunk Driving Accidents in Utah

In 2018 and 2019, the state’s rate of drunk driving arrests fell by 4%. Most of these drivers were arrested in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, and Utah counties, which altogether accounts for 70% of Utah’s DUI arrests. Every remaining county outside of Wasatch Front together made up just 30% of the state’s DUI accidents, a total that is disproportionate to the area’s population.

Just like other kinds of auto accidents, fault on the part of the inebriated driver must be established in order for you to successfully pursue financial compensation for your losses which, in a DUI claim, may include both economic and non-economic damages.

In very few cases, punitive damages may also be awarded provided that the driver exhibited gross negligence in their decision to drive drunk.
