Wellington, UT (February 28, 2021) – A 20-year-old man was killed on Sunday, February 28th when the vehicle in which he was traveling overturned, trapping its occupants near Miller’s Truck Stop in Wellington at about 6:05 a.m.
The Wellington Fire Department stated that crews were paged to a rollover accident involving a Toyota Sienna with seven male victims in the eastbound lanes of Route 6 near milepost 249.
The vehicle left the roadway and went airborne twice while striking some hilly terrain. The vehicle then overturned, ejecting several occupants and colliding with a vertical embankment.
The surviving victims, all of whom were from New Jersey and Texas, were transported with injuries ranging from critical to minor condition.
UHP does not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
One of the most serious kinds of car crashes is one that involves an overturned vehicle. As reflected in data reviewed by a nonprofit organization funded by auto insurance companies, more than 7,200 drivers and passengers died during rollover accidents in 2017. While negligence on the part of another driver is most commonly the cause of vehicle rollovers, these life-threatening accidents can also be the result of a vehicle defect, poor driving conditions, or a manufacturer’s design flaw.
When victims are injured in accidents caused by the negligence of other drivers, it is crucial that they seek legal guidance from a skilled and knowledgeable car accident attorney in Salt Lake City as soon as possible. When victims are harmed in collisions, through no fault of their own, they are often able to obtain compensation from wrongdoers to alleviate the financial costs they face for medical treatment, lost wages, property repairs, and a variety of other economic and non-economic damages.
