Santa Clara, UT (July 15, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries during a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Santa Clara on the evening of Thursday, July 15th.
The accident, which took place at about 7:30 p.m., was between a white Volvo sedan and a black Kawasaki motorcycle.
An official from the Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department stated that the motorcycle was the lead motorcycle in a group of three that were riding together, traveling southbound on Country Lane. In the meantime, the Volvo was facing westbound on Hafen Lane, preparing to make a lefthand turn onto Country Lane.
As the group of bikes neared the intersection of Country Lane and Hafen Lane, the white Volvo stopped at the stop sign pulled out in front of them. The leading bike was unable to stop in time and crashed into the car’s front corner panel.
The operator of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, received lacerations across his nose as well as other serious injuries to his face.
Officials stated that the force of the impact left his helmet and face guard shattered and broken. The rider was also wearing additional safety equipment such as a safety vest and elbow gloves, which police say did a lot to keep his injuries from being much more serious.
A female passenger riding on the same motorcycle was ejected during the accident and transported to the same hospital as the operator. Her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The Volvo’s female driver and single passenger were both unharmed during the incident.
The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims. We hope for their full recovery.
A motorcycle accident attorney who has experience dealing with motorcycle accidents will know how to reduce its adverse influence on your life.
Severe injuries, such as a traumatic brain injury or even wrongful death, can stem from a serious motorcycle crash, particularly when another motor vehicle is involved. This is due to the fact that motorcycles do not provide their riders with any of the safety features that the occupants of passenger vehicles routinely take for granted, like seat belts, a roll cage, and airbags, leaving riders exposed to serious internal injuries, as well as injuries to their brain and spinal cord.
Fatal collisions are a threat encountered by motorcyclists much more than the passengers or driver of any other kind of car or truck. While just 3 of registered vehicles in Utah are motorcycles, the state’s Department of Public Safety has recorded that Utah endured a total of 273 accident fatalities in 2017, 39 of which, about 14, were riding motorcycles.
