Kanosh, UT (April 05, 2021) – Officers from the Utah Highway Patrol were called to the scene of an accident near Kanosh that left one man critically injured on Saturday, April 3rd.
Sources reported that a Nissan driving erratically in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15, alternating its speed between 30 and 100 miles per hour, weaving in and out of lanes, nearly hitting multiple vehicles.
As the Nissan passed a Ford pick-up truck towing a camper in the righthand lane, it suddenly swerved to the left and collided with the back of the Ford. The force of the impact pushed the Ford off the side of the interstate, causing the truck to overturn and its roof to cave in, which trapped the driver inside.
Once the driver was extricated, first responders performed life-saving measures and transported him to Fillmore Hospital in critical condition. From there, he was airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital.
The female occupant of the Ford sustained non-critical injuries.
The Nissan’s driver and sole occupant received minor injuries.
UHP is investigating speed and impaired driving as factors in this accident.
