St. George, UT – ATV Accident Produces Critical Injuries, Life Flight At Toquerville Falls

St. George, UT (September 04, 2022) – An accident involving an ATV on Saturday, September 3rd at Toquerville Falls caused one adult and one child to be hospitalized in critical condition.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to calls informing them of the accident at about 7:45 p.m.

Upon their arrival, rescuers found an injured seven-year-old boy and a 38-year-old woman.

The boy was transported by medical helicopter to St. George Regional Hospital. Search and rescue escorted the woman to an ambulance. She was then taken to the same hospital. The current condition of either victim is unknown.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

When an all-terrain vehicle overturns, its open-air design leaves the occupants especially vulnerable to injuries.

ATV accidents often cause their victims to endure serious injuries, including:

  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Damage to the spinal cord
  • Back injuries/Neck Injuries
  • Broken bones/Fractured bones
  • Death
  • Paralysis

The extreme nature of many ATV collision injuries usually leaves victims with pricey medical bills, a lengthy recovery period during which they are unable to work, and, in severe cases, lifelong disabilities that will require ongoing care, robbing the victim of their independence.

More than 180 ATV accidents were reported in Utah in 2016. These accidents left 127 victims seriously injured and caused the deaths of 24 more. Being operated at dangerously high speeds is the main cause of ATV accidents.
