Richfield, UT (July 15, 2022) – One person died and two more were injured during a car accident in Richfield on Friday, July 15th.

The incident took place at about 1:00 p.m. when the driver of a Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound on 1500 South came to a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 118.

The driver attempted to cross SR-118 but didn’t wait for traffic to clear and pulled out in front of a southbound Dodge.

The impact was on the driver’s side door of the Nissan, resulting in the death of the Nissan’s driver.

A child in the Nissan sustained non-critical injuries. The driver of the Dodge was also injured.

The victim’s name has not been released.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Failure to yield the right of way is a leading cause of serious car accidents in the United States. A private company that examines crash statistics collected from insurance carriers reveals that failing to yield is the fourth most common cause of fatal car accidents, following speeding, drunk driving, and failing to maintain a lane.
