Heber City, UT (August 24, 2022) – Heber City Police Department Officers responded to the scene when a city crossing guard was struck at a crosswalk at the Old Mill Elementary School crossing on Tuesday, August 23rd.

The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Mill Road in Heber City.

After striking the guard, the SUV driver, an adult female, fled the scene, continuing northbound along Mill Road.

The crossing guard was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Hit-and-run collisions almost always present unique challenges not present in other kinds of car accidents. Along with worrying about the victim’s recovery or mourning the death of a loved one, and the complications that come with expensive but vital healthcare, the pursuit of a faceless, negligent driver will be a predominant concern.

As police do their best to find the hit-and-run driver, they will most likely have many other pressing investigations that they consider a priority. Those affected by a hit-and-run accident may find it advantageous to avail themselves of a private investigator and their special skill sets.

If the hit-and-run driver can’t be found, the injured party or a member of their family might have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. These benefits can offer desperately-needed compensation for medical bills and the replacement of lost income.

A practiced vehicle injury lawyer is often the best ally a victim or their family can have. If you or a relative sustained a significant personal injury during a hit-and-run crash in Utah, the lawyers at Jardine Law Offices P.C. can make a difference.
